About Karii

What exactly is Karii?
Karii is an AI-powered companion for your job search. It helps you build a strong CV, finds genuinely relevant jobs from South African boards, prepares tailored applications for the jobs you want, and runs voice-based mock interviews to get you ready for the real thing. It's built specifically for South African students, graduates and early-career professionals.
Who is Karii for?
Three groups in priority order: final-year university undergraduates looking for first jobs or graduate schemes; matric scholars looking for internships or entry-level work; and people with 0–2 years of experience looking for a change. If you're more senior than that, Karii isn't really built for you — you'll find better tools elsewhere.
What makes Karii different from Pnet, CareerJunction or Careers24?
Those are job boards. Karii is an intelligent layer on top of them. We pull jobs from all the main SA boards into one feed, then add the things they don't do: AI CV editing, tailored applications, voice-based mock interviews, follow-up workflows, and honest match scoring. We're a companion through the search, not a listings site.
What makes Karii different from Teal, Jobright or LazyApply?
Those are mostly US-focused and built around mass auto-apply. We're South Africa-first, integrated with SA boards and universities, and we explicitly refuse to auto-submit applications. Every application Karii prepares is reviewed and confirmed by you. Mass auto-apply burns bridges; we're not interested in that game.
What is Kāi?
Kāi (pronounced "KAH-ee") is the AI companion built into Karii. It's not a chatbot you talk to in isolation — it's threaded through every part of the product. Kāi gives CV feedback, explains job descriptions, coaches you for interviews, drafts follow-up messages, and routes you to wellbeing support when you need it. Kāi is a tactical job-search co-pilot, not a life coach.

Mock interviews

How do the AI mock interviews work?
You pick a job (one you've matched in Karii, or one you paste in from elsewhere) and your CV. Karii generates 5 tailored questions — usually 2 behavioural, 1 motivational, 1 weakness-probe based on your CV gaps, and 1 role-specific. You record your spoken answers in your browser. About 60 seconds later, you get per-question feedback: pace, filler words, content quality, what to keep and what to fix, and a suggested better answer.
Why voice and not video?
Two reasons. First, voice is where the real coaching happens — practising the act of speaking your answer out loud is what makes you better. Second, AI-driven facial-expression analysis is scientifically contested, and we're not going to sell you pseudoscience. Voice gives us solid analysis (pace, fillers, content) without overpromising.
What if I have a strong SA accent?
Our speech-to-text is tuned for South African English accents and we're testing extensively on isiZulu- and Xhosa-inflected English. If you find Karii misunderstands you regularly, please tell us — we'd rather fix it than have you struggle.
Can I just use mock interview if I have an interview coming up tomorrow?
Yes. You can use mock interviews without doing the full Karii onboarding. Paste in the job description, drop your CV (or skip it for generic questions), and run a session. This works on a pay-per-use basis (R29 per session) without creating an account.

Pricing & access

How much does Karii cost?
There's a free tier that's generous enough to use throughout a job search (1 tailored application + 1 mock interview per month, plus unlimited CV editing and job matching). For an active search, the R249 Job-Hunt Pack covers 3 months of unlimited use. There's also a R99/month rolling option and pay-as-you-go for casual users. See the pricing page for detail.
When does Karii launch?
Early 2027. Sign up for the waitlist and you'll be among the first when we open a closed beta. Early waitlist members get early-bird pricing locked in for at least 12 months.
Will my university have a partnership?
We're actively having conversations with SA university career-services teams. If your institution signs up, you'll likely get free or heavily-discounted access through them. If you'd like to introduce us to your career-services office, tell us when you join the waitlist and we'll send you a partnership pitch you can forward.

Data & privacy

Where is my data stored? Is Karii POPIA-compliant?
Yes. Karii is built South-Africa-first, so POPIA compliance is foundational, not an afterthought. Your CV, profile, application history and recordings are stored encrypted, processed only for the purposes you've consented to, and never sold to third parties. We use AI infrastructure from vendors with strong privacy commitments and data-processing agreements.
What happens to my voice recordings from mock interviews?
By default, raw audio is auto-deleted after 30 days. The transcript and your feedback stay in your account as long as you want them, so you can track improvement over time. You can delete any recording or transcript at any time, and we never use your recordings to train AI models without your separate, explicit consent.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. From settings you can delete individual items, your entire history, or your whole account. Account deletion is permanent within 30 days and we don't retain copies for "soft analytics" or anything sneaky. POPIA gives you this right; we just honour it without making you ask twice.
Do you sell my data?
No. Never have, never will. We make money from subscriptions and university licences. We don't sell user data to recruiters, advertisers, or anyone else. This is a hard rule, not a "we currently don't" position.

Wellbeing & Spright

What's the Spright connection?
Spright (sprightbuddy.com) is a sister wellbeing app built by the same team. Job hunting is rough on your head — rejection cycles, financial pressure, comparison spirals. Karii includes a quiet, free door into Spright at the moments you might need it. Same team, two products, kept deliberately separate so each can be excellent at one thing.
Do I have to use Spright?
No. It's there if you want it. Karii works fine without it. Spright is always free to access from Karii at any tier, including for users who don't have a Karii account.
