This policy explains what information Karii collects from you, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We've written it in plain language and structured it to be readable in about five minutes. Karii (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA").
Important note: This is the pre-launch policy covering only our marketing site and waitlist. A more comprehensive policy will be published before Karii's product launch covering CV data, voice recordings, application history and AI processing. That policy will be reviewed by qualified legal counsel.
If you sign up to our waitlist, we collect:
If you submit a message through our Contact form, we collect your name, email, organisation (if you provide one), the topic you selected, and the message you wrote.
We do not use cookies for analytics or advertising. We do not run any third-party tracking pixels on this site. If a page has standard browser features that use local storage, that data stays on your device and is never sent to us.
We use this information only for:
That's it. We don't use your details for advertising. We don't enrich them with third-party data. We don't sell, rent or otherwise share them with any other organisation, including recruiters or universities. Ever.
Waitlist submissions and contact-form messages are stored in a Google Sheet under the control of Karii (Pty) Ltd, accessible only to a small number of authorised team members. Google Workspace's data-processing terms apply. Email is sent and received via Google Workspace and is subject to the same controls.
Static site files are hosted on Netlify. Netlify holds standard server logs (IP address, browser type, time of visit) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. We do not access these logs unless we suspect a security issue.
We hold waitlist data until either:
Contact-form messages are held for 24 months and then deleted.
POPIA gives you a number of specific rights regarding your personal information. You can:
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@karii.co.za. We'll respond within 30 calendar days, usually much faster.
Some of our intended users are matric scholars who may be minors. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 13. For users aged 13–17 we will, at product launch, require either parental consent or institutional consent (where a school or career-services office sponsors access) in line with POPIA's special protections for children's information. Our waitlist requires self-attestation that you are 13 or older.
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures appropriate to the volume and sensitivity of the data we hold. The site is served exclusively over HTTPS. Access to the underlying Google Sheet is restricted by Google Workspace's controls and limited to a small set of named team members. If a data incident affecting your personal information were to occur, we'd notify you and the Information Regulator without undue delay.
We'll update this policy as the product evolves — most importantly, before Karii's commercial launch, when a much more comprehensive policy will replace this one. If we make material changes that affect data you've given us, we'll email you before they take effect.
